Work with Bri

The Perception Intensive

For K-12 school districts who want to effect positive change without pushback, lead through crises with confidence, and shine as a cornerstone of their community.

The Perception Intensive™ Transforms the way your district communicates so you stop rumors and misunderstandings before they begin.

Accusations of poor handling and communication during times of crises and change can get ugly: Angry parents, damaging rumors, educational stagnation, lawsuits, and community shame.

With this customized 1:1 program, your communications will click, empowering you to prioritize your students and avoid embarrassing damage control in the future.

Hands up if you've experienced:

Desperation when rumors swirl about how you handled a difficult incident or policy change. You're being accused of a lack of communication or of things you didn't do or say.

Frustration since it feels like you DID communicate. Why didn't they read the newsletter!? It's on the website! Although, you do admit you're a bit afraid to say the wrong thing...

Intense shame over the community's judgment. You're afraid of losing students. Being a stain on the town's reputation. Getting sued. It feels awful and you never want it to happen again.

How would it feel to be Trusted to create positive change and handle crises - without losing sleep over angry parents and community backlash?

Imagine...

Attracting the best staff and producing kids that thrive & achieve, all because you were able to get parents and stakeholders on board with positive changes

Communicating with parents in a way that fosters harmonious relationships and stops rumors and misunderstandings before they even start

Feeling trusted and greatly appreciated in your community because you do what's best for your students and lead through crises with skill and grace

Here's why it's not clicking for people when you try to get your message across:

  • You're only addressing the symptoms, not the root

You're in reaction mode and you're frantically googling "How do we address equity?" or whatever issue you're facing. Surface level bandaid solutions don't solve the deeper problem with your district's communication culture and won't prevent issues from rising up in the future.

  • Your newsletter or meeting minutes slapped on the website don't connect

When's the last time you read some dry meeting minutes in your spare time? Trust me, busy parents aren't reading them either (it's easier to take what Suze at school pickup says at face value).

  • Your leader doesn't understand their role

For people to listen and truly hear you in times of changes and crises, they need to see there's a culture of communication from your leader so they can trust in that person's authentic authority. Without that, people become skeptical, critical, and even scathing.

Here's what you need instead to stop misunderstandings and get parents & stakeholders on board:

  • Transform the district's communication culture from the bottom up

A transformative approach to the culture at a root level sets the stage for a smooth future and high status in your community. Without this, you'll continue to experience the same painful situations over and over.

  • Collect and cultivate stories that back up your intentions and truly connect with parents & stakeholders

Since the beginning of humans, story has been the thing that connects hearts, minds, and emotions. This is the key to garnering genuine understanding and support from parents and stakeholders alike.

  • Create a culture of communication from your leader so they're trusted in times of crises & change

When your district leader has a track record of steady communication and exemplary leadership, people will be reassured and attentive when significant matters arise, ready to face challenges together.

Introducing...

The Perception Intensive

This is my signature 1:1 program where we customize a perception strategy specific to your district's unique needs and goals. Examples include:

  • Example 1: Matters of Equity, Race, and Gender

Let's say there was an incident of alleged discrimination from one of your staff and the feedback is that you didn't handle the situation well. People are spreading rumors. You fear losing enrollment, cherished staff, and becoming a stain on your community's reputation.

  • Example 2: Positive Changes in Policy, Testing & Curriculum

Let's say you changed a test procedure in order to keep up with current research and keep your schools' educational quality moving forward. But people are saying you didn't tell them or they're completely misconstruing your reasons. Misinformation is circulating and polarized viewpoints are risking a stagnation or backwards slide in quality of education.

  • Example 3: District Response to Crises

Let's say there was a bomb threat, a gas leak, or a case of mass food poisoning from the cafeteria. Parents are mad about how you handled it. There's negative press. You feel intense shame from the community and you're even afraid you might get sued.

I help you map out what went wrong, and create the strategy needed to repair your reputation. Then we transform your district's communications to ensure it never happens again.

Here's how:

Identify Your Audience

We identify who you're talking to. If we don't know who we're talking to, you will never be able to send out communications that click

Find Your Why

We identify the "why" behind your mission so you can stand behind your message and effectively defend your position

Observe The Gaps

We identify the gaps in your current communications and what your best opportunities are for smoothly navigating crises & change in the future

Gather the Stories

We make a plan for gathering the stories that will get people on board because you're connecting your message to their hearts and minds

Connect To Hearts & Minds

We map out the strategy for when, where, and for whom to use each story so you're prepared for every incident or change that will ever happen in your district

Shine in Your Community

You feel relief that you can now effect positive change without pushback, lead through crises with confidence, and shine as a cornerstone of your community

Is my district right for this?

I collaborate with K-12 districts worldwide, offering on-site and virtual support. Many of the districts I work with have faced accusations of mishandling crises or policy changes, resulting in challenging situations. These experiences prompt them to recognize the need for better communication strategies and a desire to take proactive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. On the other hand, some districts I work have never experienced major incidents but want to ensure they never do.

How long is the program?

If you're still managing fallout from a recent incident, we'll address it initially during our collaboration. After that, the program is a year-long, which allows ample time to evaluate your current situation, identify challenges, and develop a strategy to transform your district's communication culture. We'll curate stories, gather necessary resources, and kickstart the plan's implementation while closely monitoring its progress.

What's the clear outcome we get at the end of it?

Sure, you'll receive scripts, a story database, branding assets, and personalized assistance to communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders. But what you really get at the end is harmonious relationships, the confidence to lead through crises without compromising your reputation, and the gratifying sense of being respected as an educational pillar within your community—where staff are eager to work, and students thrive and succeed.

What's the investment?

Since this is a custom program, the investment depends on your district's unique needs. The average investment is  $1600 USD per month over 12 months.

We already have a communications director. Do we need this?

Yes, while your communications director may manage social media posts and newsletters, my role is to craft the underlying strategy that they use to do their job well. A solid strategy is vital for preventing potential public relations disasters. I also can mentor your communications director on the new strategy as needed.

How do we begin?

Click here to book a connection call with me right now and we'll see if I'm a good fit to help you with your perception problems.

I was referred to you for a different service. Do you offer other things?

While The Perception Intensive™️ and keynote speaking are my main focus now, I also collaborate with educators in diverse ways. This involves conducting workshops, launching initiatives, and devising innovative plans for change. Let's schedule a connection call to see if my services align with what you need.

Nothing else matters when your reputation is at stake. Let's do this, y'all.

Ready to shine as the educational pillar of your Community?

You strive to do good things for your students, their parents, and your community. You deserve trust and appreciation, and it all starts with communications that click.
